                              TANK PLINKER
                      - a mission for F/A-18: Korea

  Introduction
 --------------

Thank you for downloading this mission for Graphic Simulations Corporation's
F/A-18: Korea flight simulator. It is an entry for GSC's mission designing
contest. Unfortunately, I have been really busy with my studies - I have an
exam week comping up. Because of this, I haven't been able to fine tune the
mission. However, I do find it very enjoyable as it is now, and it's also very
variable in several ways. Including, but not limited to the fact that it has
many more friendly and enemy planes than those that the player will
encounter. As in this mission, your task is to mainly clean up what others
leave behind, your objectives vary between every time you play this mission
depending on how other friendly forces manage to complete their missions.
As I said, this mission is not completely finished, but because the deadline
of the contest is today, this is the official entry. After the exam week, or
perhaps earlier, I'll put up a website dedicated to this mission (and possibly
some other too), and post there a newer version based on YOUR comments.
Remember however that this mission is the contest entry you're supposed to
give your votes for. Not the one I'll post later. Anyway, the website will be
up at http://www.sci.fi/~gubbe/hornet.html when I have time to put it up.

  What's tank plinking?
 -----------------------
Tank plinking is a term from the Gulf war. At operation Desert Storm
F-111 pilots started to destroy tanks with laser-guided bombs, that resulted
in an almost 100% kill ratio. I thought "Tank Plinker" would be a cool name
for a mission, since you do get to kill some tanks.

  How to use?
 -------------

Copy the file PLINK.MSN to missions directory in your korea folder.
Then run the game, choose "mission editor" from the "theater" menu.
Go to "mission" menu and choose "load mission". Choose PLINK.MSN from
the list.

  Mission briefing and background info
 --------------------------------------

Day by day we have been destroying the enemy forces and now it has come time
to crush their backbone. This must be done asap, even though it's quite risky.
We still don't have a significant power advantage against them, but we believe
that we have everything we need. The offensive began 23 hours ago and hasn't
gone too well so far. The worst thing is, that we lost our awacs. Well, not
completely, but she suffered a major hit to its radar dome, and has been
rendered inoperable. It should trap on the enterprise in about ten minutes
from your launch. The temporary loss of awacs has made us practically blind,
and we just have to hope there aren't too many enemies up there.

Your mission consists of following objectives:

  1. A single F-16 Falcon aircraft has been sent to destroy a tank column
headed for Dongducheon. We believe LtCol. Sinclair won't have any problems with
that, but in case he happened to fail, you must destroy the tank column
before it reaches Dongducheon airbase. With current speed it will reach it's
  target at 0630 hours.

  2. Two B52G Stratofortress aircraft will scramble from Seoul international
at 0615 to destroy an enemy railyard north of Ichon. Another F-16 is going
to perform SEAD between Seoul and that railyard. Again, we believe that
Lt. Keffer will make it fine, but if not, you'll continue where he dropped
out. Your tasking will also include protecting those B52's from any other
threats. As far as we know, Ichon airbase has currently no operational
aircraft, but we may be wrong.

  3. Destroy a control tower from either, Kaesong, or Ichon airbases. This
is also essential to reduce a number of working airbases of the enemy.
